Who We Are
Hudson Casino (operating at thehealthgap.ca) is an independent Canadian editorial publication reviewing online casinos for Canadian players. The site is operated by Hudson Casino Editorial, a Canadian publishing entity based in Toronto, Ontario. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights Canadian residents have under federal privacy law (PIPEDA, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and applicable provincial legislation including Quebec's Law 25.
Information We Collect
When you visit Hudson Casino, we collect a limited amount of information automatically. This includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, screen resolution, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, the referring website, and aggregate session data through standard server logs and privacy-focused analytics. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18 (or 19 where provincial gambling age applies).
If you choose to contact our editorial team through the form on our Contact page, you provide us with your name, email address, and the contents of your message. If you subscribe to our editorial newsletter, you provide your email address only.
We do not require you to create an account to use Hudson Casino, and we do not collect financial or payment information directly. Any deposit or banking activity happens on the operator's website after you click through an affiliate link.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Hudson Casino uses a small set of cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience and measure aggregate site performance. Strictly necessary cookies remember your session state and accessibility preferences. Analytics cookies (we use a privacy-focused analytics provider that does not transfer personal information outside Canada) help us understand which pages and features Canadian readers value most. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking trackers.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality but will not prevent you from reading our editorial content.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for three purposes only: to operate and improve the Hudson Casino website; to respond to direct correspondence you initiate (contact form, newsletter subscription); and to comply with applicable Canadian law. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. We do not share personal information with advertising networks or data brokers.
Affiliate clicks (when you click through to a casino operator from our site) are tracked at the operator's side, not ours. Your clickthrough triggers a tracking parameter that the operator uses to attribute revenue to our affiliate program. Hudson Casino receives anonymized commission reports from operators; we do not receive your personal information from operators after you sign up at their site.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We share personal information only in the following circumstances: with service providers (our hosting provider, our email provider) under contractual data-protection obligations; when required by Canadian law, court order, or legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hudson Casino, our readers, or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our editorial assets (in which case we will notify you and provide you with the opportunity to object).
We do not transfer personal information outside Canada except to specific service providers (hosting, email delivery) that maintain appropriate safeguards under the contractual frameworks recognized by Canadian privacy regulators.
Your Rights Under Canadian Privacy Law
Under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccuracies in that information, withdraw your consent for our use of your information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions), file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec for Quebec residents), and request that we delete personal information that we no longer need.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at editorial@thehealthgap.ca with the subject line "Privacy Request." We aim to respond within 30 days as required by PIPEDA.
Data Retention
We retain server logs for 90 days for security and operational purposes. Contact form submissions are retained for two years from your last interaction with us, then deleted. Newsletter subscriber data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, after which we delete your email address within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Hudson Casino is intended for adults aged 19 or older (18 in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under those ages. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete that information immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at editorial@thehealthgap.ca and we will remove it.
Security
We implement reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encryption in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher), access controls on our internal systems, regular security reviews, and employee privacy training. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information transmitted over the internet.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If we make material changes that affect your rights, we will provide additional notice (such as a banner on the site or an email to subscribers).
